About Dr Tan

Our Men’s Health Doctor in Singapore

Dr Tan Kok Kuan has over 20 years of experience in Men’s Health, sexually transmitted diseases and HIV care. He is actively involved in clinical practice, education and health-policy development, and currently serves on the Executive Committee of the Society for Men’s Health Singapore and the Education Committee of the Singapore Association for the Study of Obesity.

Dr Tan is a member of the Singapore HIV PrEP Guidance Advisory Group and the Singapore Sexual Health Workgroup, and was an author of Singapore’s National HIV PrEP Prescribing Guidelines as well as the Community Blueprint to End HIV Transmission and AIDS by 2030. He is a published author and journal reviewer, and has spoken at numerous local and international conferences on Men’s Health and HIV.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I see Dr Tan if I am unsure what is causing my symptoms?

Yes. You can describe your symptoms and concerns during a consultation. Dr Tan can assess whether tests are needed and discuss suitable next steps.

Should I get an STD test if I have no symptoms?

You may still wish to consider testing after a possible exposure, as some STDs do not cause noticeable symptoms. Dr Tan can advise which tests are appropriate and when to take them.

What should I do after a possible HIV exposure?

Contact the clinic as soon as possible. Dr Tan can assess the exposure and advise whether post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) is appropriate. PEP must be started within 72 hours of exposure.

What happens at my first consultation?

Dr Tan will ask about your concerns and medical history, then explain any recommended assessment or treatment. You can also raise questions about privacy, testing or follow-up care.
