Mounjaro: What Is It For?

Blog

Incretin medicines have been very popular due to their ability to control blood sugar, weight and even heart and kidney disease risk. They work by mimicking hormones in our bodies that control appetite, blood sugar and other metabolic parameters.

Mounjaro is the latest incretin medicine. Mounjaro is approved in Singapore for the treatment of diabetes.

Mounjaro is given as a weekly self-administered subcutaneous injection. The active ingredient in Mounjaro is Tirzepatide. It mimics the actions of hormones naturally produced by the body after a meal. There are many physiological effects of Mounjaro that result in better blood sugar control, weight loss and reduction in the risk of heart and kidney disease.

The commonest side effect of Mounjaro is nausea. Other common side effects include constipation or diarrhea.
